SOME OF YOU MIGHT BE HORRIFIED BY THIS

I love this bit of music:-

mp3 : U2 - The Fly

Released as a single 21 years ago this week, it was a sound that stunned many a U2 fan.  Bono said it was "the sound of four men chopping down the Joshua Tree" as the band really moved away from the sound that had brought them fame, fortune and a fair bit of ridicule from us music-snobs.

That it went straight to #1 in the UK and was only the second of their then 21 singles single to reach the top shows just how many folk with no real time for U2 fell for the charms of The Fly.  Still think all these years on it's a tremendous piece of music with a guitar solo that took the band back to their roots and a vocal delivery that was unlike anything Bono had given us before....or since.

The extra tracks on the single were also a wee bit different:-

mp3 : U2 - Alex Descends Into Hell For A Bottle Of Milk : Korova 1
mp3 : U2 - The Lounge Fly (Mix)

The former is a piece of music composed for a Royal Shakespeare Company production of A Clockwork Orange back in 1990 while the latter is a very interesting mix of the single that extends out to almost six and a half minutes.

21 years though....time has flown.

Update on 10 October.......ctel was right....the post was a DMCA notice in waiting. Links to mp3s duly removed.
