THE SMITHS ON BRITISH TELLY (Part 22)

After a seven-month absence from our tellys, it was announced that The Smiths would be making an appearance on Whistle Test on 20 May 1986.  I watched it and I recorded it to VHS.  And then I watched it again and again and again.  The next morning I went out and bought a brown jacket, a red stripey tie, a new white shirt and a new pair of jeans just so that, on a works night out, I would be as close to looking like Morrissey as I could manage.

This is, without question the greatest TV performance the band ever gave...and what a perfect introduction from Andy Kershaw:-

You want a download of the tune??

mp3 : The Smiths - Bigmouth Strikes Again (live on 'Whistle Test')

And as ever....any excuse for a touch of Eastern European magic:-

mp3 : The Ukranians - Batyar

And here's a cover that I can't quite make my mind up about...

mp3 : Placebo - Bigmouth Strikes Again

Oh for the days when I had hair......

Smash Haus Music Group upends the traditional music licensing and custom music industry by directly engaging large media production entities in Television, Film, Advertising and New Media to create more value to these clients by creating music as an internal asset for them. Smash Haus technology is essentially a large scale production force that employs many top Hollywood music makers and industry workers to create scalable income.

Owners Dylan Berry and Noah Lifschey are not your typical media executives. Both are composers in their own right and are currently composing the Network Theme Package for the Time Warner Sports Network including the Los Angeles Lakers, Galaxy, Sparks and more. They can also be heard on top-rated TV shows like The Academy Awards, Americas Best Dance Crew, The Sing Off, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance?, Surviving The Cut, MTV Music Video Awards, Root Sports Theme Package and many more ...

"We felt that it was important to get ahead of what is not working in the music for media industry. Advertising revenue is spread out, budgets are shrinking, YouTube and new media is overturning traditional TV, its just a fact. We decided to go into business directly with our clients and composers and create a work platform that was direct and could build value and income for all involved."
