What can I say? It's a cracking wee pop song with a hint of reggae. I don't own anything else by the singer.
The BRIT was in recgnition of his debut LP Maverick A Strike which sold by the barrowload when released in 1997. By the time he got round to releasing a follow-up some three years later, his public had more or less deserted him and he's never troubled the charts since.
Strange fact pop-pickers. Finley Quaye is Scottish.
Born in Edinburgh in 1974 to a Scots mother. His dad, who he never knew when he was growing up, was from Ghana and a well-known jazz musician.

And isn't he some relation to Maxine Quaye, long time collaborator/lover of Tricky (and Massive Attack)?
I saw him open for RFTC at Wolverhampton's Wulfrun Hall back in the day. He delivered a quite sublime set. At the time he couldn't escape the media's obsession with his Goldie connections; pity, as the link didn't do him any favours.
I thought Maxine Quaye was Tricky's mum? And Finlay's auntie? Never understood the scorn he seems to provoke Sunday Shining was one of my favourite tunes in whatever year it came out.
Sunday shining was a pretty big hit in Australia and still gets an airing on some radio stations every now and then.......
Funny- I was thinking about Finlay Quayle just the other day and realsied I didn't own anything by him other than a tape of the album which I can't find. Sunday Shining is ace. And this one too
