(Apart from the small tinctures I'd had), the reason I once said that The Vinyl Villain is the only blog with industrial cleavage was ...
It's a glorious place of pleasurable warmth, depth and safety. A genial harbour, a welcoming refuge; somewhere we could stay forever.
Why, sometimes even, with a shake of one's balding pate, there exudes a tremulous frisson, a dreamy milky world ... until we once again come up for air.
Come and squeeze in alongside us Anon.
Someone slagging off Billy and Jojo? Hold my coat...
Sadly, for every hundred happy blog readers, there is always one who is never happy with anything. If you pandied to Anon's musical whims, no doubt he/she would find something wrong with what you post (wrong song, wrong era, wrong version, etc)
Forget them. Do what you do whether anyone likes it or not. This blog continues... and so it should!
Hello everybody, i've just come here today to discover this amazing entry : what an honor - even if it was done in a pathetic way.
Pathetic indeed. By writing that, be sure i don't feel angry or ashamed. So mark my words.
My first reaction was to forget this entry - and this pathetic rant - and scroll this page to find something interesting. But in a second thought i decide to answer, and it will be my first and last reply as i don't want to spoil time in a ridiculous fight with anonymous people.
"Anonymous"... i want to begin with that. It's pathetic to read two people [one called Jacke The Kipper (it's because fish don't have a brain? feels like an impersonation here) and another called JC (another impersonation indeed)] treating me "mr or ms anon" or "hey anonymous" as if it was a cowardly move. My real name is Hassan. So what? If you read "Hassan said" it would have been not an anonymous post? Because "Kipper" or "JC" aren't anonymous names? But it seems they are nevertheless people knowing each other. And it's easy to see behind this little gang a bunch of middle-aged men from the middle-class, suffering from a lack of recognition, suffering in their work because they are too weak or too narrow-minded to show something valuable for their bosses. And playing the boss here and taking control in the virtual life, what and escape isn't it? It was an easy guess, i remember a rant from someone here bashing his boss.
You took time to write against me and then you finished your rant by pretending you'll be "more than happy" to know what artists i want to listen : what an hypocrite.
Now i'm done (i said it before, it's my first and last reply).

JC Here. The same JC who has been running this blog for 5 years. The same JC who has consistently offered over those 5 years anyone the opportunity to contribute posts to this blog.
The offer still stands.
Yes I'm middle-aged....that's something never denied if you take the time to go back and read what this blog is all about. Am I middle-class ?? Quite probably....but I wasnt born that way. Maybe I've become middle-class on the basis of an approach in life that over the years been recognised at work and I've been strong enough and broad-minded to do lots of valuable things for my organisations. Strong-enough and broad-minded enough to do this every day through a love of music, plain and simple.
I fail to see what this has got to do with me wanting to post songs by artistes who over the years have brought a lot of pleasure to readers and contributors alike....notwithstanding that you're no fan of them.
As I said, you're more than welcome to use this space to share your tastes. It's over to you....
hey jc
i don't love everything you post, i'm sure no one does...
but i love enough of it to bring me back and make me listen to bands i've not heard before...
and yeah i'm middle aged too... but my ears are open to new music as yours are...
anyway, keep up the good work... ignore the haters unless they are being constructive...
but it's all just opinion anyway... my band is better than your band...
anyway it all reminds me of this...

Chill out. I called you Anonymous because that was the only reference I had. Yes, I do come from a family who spent much of the 20th century fishing for a living, hence the kipper. Yes, I have known JC for some time but no, he didn't know that I was going to post what I did, responding to you. And the first I know that I've been mentioned in the blog itself is when I read it same as you - in this case the day after you. Conspiracy theory over.
But two things far more important. Yes, you're entitled to a view but, for someone who, from what you imply, visits the blog regularly, you did come across as uncharitable on its 5th birthday. There were more positive ways to make your point - eg what about more (insert your favourite bands) in future.
And read today's blog post again - that's not a "rant". That's simply making the point (again) that we all like different music and encouraging you (and others) to share your particular tastes. Maybe people like JC and I are not taking the piss, maybe we're just interested in what others like in case we've missed out on something good.
Now I'm off back to some Calvin Harris, which JC hates and will slag me off for, but that's what opinions on music, and this particular blog are all about.
