DO YOU SOMETIMES YOU WISH YOU COULD BE IN TWO PLACES AT ONCE??

Tomorrow night sees a couple of great gigs taking place round these parts.

Martin Stephenson returns to play another show promoted by Alan Hendry under the Sounds In The Suburbs banner.  Alan truly is one of the unsung heroes of the Glasgow music scene and readers from way back will know just how much enjoyment I've got from going along and seeing Martin in such brilliantly small, friendly and unique venues.  Any other Friday and I'd be at the Accies Club in the west end of the city having a truly great time

Instead I'm off to Paisley Arts Centre to catch a performance from Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat as they prepare to go out on tour to promote their LP Everything's Getting Older, one of the best records of 2011.

It wasn't an easy choice to make. Alan does so much to fly the flag for great music in the city and as I'm quickly learning from trying to promote the forthcoming gig by Butcher Boy, it can be an onerous and seemingly thankless task.  I hate when I dont get along and support his events.

But as I've only ever caught a small snippet of messrs Wells and Moffat in performance at last year's Chemikal Underground 15th Birthday celebrations, allied to the fact that Paisley Arts Centre will be a new venue for me, then the bearded wonders edged it.  But I still feel really guilty.

So I'm pleading with those of you who are from the Glasgow area and who have got spare time on their hands tomorrow night.   Get along to the Accies Club and give Martin Stephenson a big cheer on behalf of The Vinyl Villain.  He'll probably not have a clue what you're on about mind you......but you could go up to Alan (believe me, even if you've never seen him before you will spot him right away - he's the one person in the room not relaxing, drinking or enjoying himself......well not till the music begins anyway!!!

Friday 7th October : 8pm Accies Club, Helensburgh Drive, Jordanhill, Glasgow G13 1RR

Tickets £10 from Alan Hendry, 07944354459 or on the door

mp3 : Martin Stephenson - Mountainous Spring

More on Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat next week. In the meantime, here's two promos (and c'mon Comrade....there is very much more than a hint of Dumb Instrument about them......)

Happy Listening and viewing

I'll be at Bill and Aidan JC - it's the 2nd time they've played my hometown - the arts centre has a lovely wee auditorium so it's a sitty downy. Fanboy that I am, i'm going to take my vinyl to get it signed. Might see you there.

Instead of being at Bill and Aidan just down the road from my house I'm at home skint and ill. Enjoy on my behalf!
