Outwith music, my other great vice is football (or soccer as some of my friends over in the USA might say.....but not Jeff from Chicago.....he knows the sport is football!!)
Today will see me head off to Stark's Park, Kirkcaldy as season 2011/12 of Scottish League Division one kicks off. The last few seasons have been great for Raith Rovers fans.....we've been relatively successful winning promotion, getting to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup and last season having a great but ultimately unsuccessful tilt at gaining promotion to the top level in Scottish Football. Not bad for a team that, for the most part, is only able to attract 2-2,500 spectators to home matches.
Over the close season however, financial concerns at the club led to a substantial number of established and experienced players departing, replaced in the main by unproven youngsters who have come up through the youth ranks. So what lies ahead is a bit of an unknown.
The early signs aren't bad. We've already played in two cup ties against lower division clubs and progressed to the next rounds, but today is the acid test with a home match against Falkirk who this season are our deadliest rivals in the division. There's bound to be a big crowd today full of enthusiasm and anticipation. Come 5 o'clock, I hope I'm still smiling.

I kept an eye on Raith's results last season. Sad that they didn't get the top spot. This time though JC.
to steal some Scotland World Cup 1974 song lyrics..Yabba Dabba Do We Support The Boys In Blue.......Excellent start to the League season today. the Rovers deserved winners against an over physical Falkirk team, No surprise when Darren Dodds was sent off. I thought Reece Donaldson at 17 years old looks a prospect, Bairdy worked hard as usual and Danny Thomson was impressive.
Come On the Rovers

Beating Falkirk 1-0, they'll be dancing in the streets of Raith tonight!
