You might be wondering how Teenage Fanclub last week were #23 in this series, while Geneva are this week #20? Or maybe you couldn't give a toss......I was cleaning up the blog the other day in preparation for putting up a series of posts to cover the next two weeks when the Villains will be sunning themselves on a Caribbean island when I noticed the series had gone from #19 to #21...... (oh and to those of you who think we're just back from an exotic holiday - and yes I am talking to you dearest Dirk - it has been five months!!!)
So, here's the missing link:-
mp3 : Geneva - No One Speaks
mp3 : Geneva - Closer To The Stars
mp3 : Geneva - Keep The Light On
Geneva were formed in 1992 in Aberdeen, they are yet another band who should have been a lot more famous than they became.
This is their debut single which reached #32 in the UK singles charts in October 1996. Over the next 12 months, the band enjoyed two more Top 30 singles and a debut LP that went Top 20. But there then followed a hiatus of a couple of years during which the band and label Nude Records fell out, and by the time the new material emerged in late 1999 and early 2000, almost everyone had lost interest and it was no surprise that the band called it a day not long after.
Here's an appearance on a Scottish telly arts programme:-
Keep on visiting while I'm away. It will hopefully still be worth your while.

Dearest JC,
five months is 'just' in my book!
Nevertheless enjoy the sun, the beaches and the food over there, mate ... again!
Have fun,
Dirk
More breaks than Evil Knieval.
Lots of love.

Always liked these guys, although to this day I've never been able to find a copy of the second album.
Enjoy yourself in the sun, ya swine...
2 really great lps - each lp had one killer slower track. "tranquiliser" on the first and the simply heart breaking "if you have to go" on the second
I still have the two albums on vinyl.
A great, underrated band.
I have this on vinyl. Never knew they were Scottish!
Great band, wonderful song. "Further" is one of my favourite CDs from the 1990s. Any chance you could post the b-side from the 7" single, "What Your Therapist Says"?
