mp3 : Beck - LoserA hit in many parts of the world in 1994. But you really gotta love the great people of Norway who propelled it all the way to the #1 slot. Us Brits kind of gave up when it reached #15.
The four-track CD single had three songs that were previously unreleased.
mp3 : Beck - Totally Confused
mp3 : Beck - Corvette Bummer
mp3 : Beck - MTV Makes Me Want To Smoke Crack
Happy Listening. (You can see that I'm still kind of tired after the holiday at the lack of real effort that has gone into today's posting)

Lack of effort or no, these are outstanding songs from a great time in the Los Angeles music scene. When this came out Beck was still a local underground youth, playing with his smacked up acoustic around the circuit of shitty but friendly tiny clubs in LA, where I had recently moved. He would break dance and spray the crowd with a leaf blower with enthusiasm. His vinyl efforts up to this point were available in local shops in folded paper covers Beck and his friends had decorated by fingerpainting. Unlike every other artist in a flannel shirt, the industry-types seemed to recognize immediately that Beck was bound for greatness, despite his slacker ethos and guileless disregard for showbiz. A bidding war ensued and you know the rest. But before all that happened, there were gems like these nonsensical but hilarious, acoustic-based jams. Great stuff -- set the pace for a lot of music that came after.
