I mentioned Frightened Rabbit the other day when I said one of their singles, just a few months old, was in the 45 45s at 45.
Last night, I was lucky enough to see them at Glasgow Barfly, and I was in the company of Comrade Colin and another of his friends, Megan.
We each came away from the gig rather dazzled by the brilliance of the set, drawn largely from the forthcoming LP, The Midnight Organ Fight. I've been lucky enough to pick up an advance copy of the new record (but I'll still be rushing out to buy it on its release on 14th April) and its been a long while since I've been so excited by a record which is discussed at length with the band over at The Pop Cop.
This is a band on the verge of something very special indeed. If there's any justice in the world that is. You can listen to some of the tracks in advance and then pre-order the LP direct from their record label, right here.
Then you should go over a have a look at them on myspace and check out their forthcoming schedule of gigs. If they are coming anywhere near your place of abode, get yourself along. And if anyone fancies making a great night out of it at King Tut's on Saturday 12th April, you can always send me an e-mail (the address can be found over at the TVV profile page).
Here's something they made earlier:-
mp3 : Frightened Rabbit - Go-Go Girls
Available on the LP Sing The Greys which can be bought here.

I think Barfly was the greatest gig I've seen them play. Such a self-deprecating lot too! I've just written a totally gushing review of them. They really ought to start playing My Backwards Walk live.....I hope you'll be getting yourself along to their album launch at monorail!!
