I used to think the golfer Seve Ballesteros was a real-life Superman. But old age and a bad back have proved to be his personal kryptonite.

I saw Seve win The Open at St Andrews many years ago now. I was with my Dad and we were standing right by the 18th green when the last put went in. Magic. God, he really "had it" then, didn't he?

My dad (a huge golf fan) was a steward at the St Andrews Open some years ago with his pal Bob and he carried a wee placard with him, just in case he got on the telly, that read "hiya Paulene from your Dad". He did get in view of the cameras, held the placard aloft and I cried for about a week (partly beacuse I had watched it on the telly for days in case my Dad was on!!) Still think golf is a good walk wasted myself but there are far worse things you could be interested! I also sometimes find Colin Montgomery strangely attractive but we won't go into that!!!
